Hardwood Flooring Repair

There are a lot of things that go into choosing what kind of hardwood flooring is best for you.  Cost is usually a factor.  To start off with I do have minimum pricing but I would rather you call and ask me about that instead of publishing it out to the world but my prices start at $1.00 per square foot for a simple Hardwood Flooring Buff & Re-coat. Sanding and staining prices start out at $2.75 a square foot.

The type of hardwood flooring you choose is also a factor in your decision making process.  Check out my page on the Janka scale which will give you an idea of where to start.

Hardwood Flooring Buff and Recoat

Also known as screen and re-coat. We will scuff up or abrade the floor and then apply a coat of polyurethane to protect and give the floor a fresh sheen.  buffing (or screening) allows the polyurethane a surface to adhere to and also smooths out or eliminates light scratches.

Some customers call this a light sanding but really it’s a screen and re-coat because I will only sand the top layer of polyurethane.  Some people refer to this as adding a top coat or buff and coat.

Keep in mind that deep scratches cannot be eliminated with this process.

How long does it take

This is a very common question. The answer vary’s widely.
First of all it depends on what type of polyurethane you use, water or oil base.

Oil based applications require a lot more time because of the drying time between each coat. In general, you can expect between 3-5 day’s at a minimum.

Water based applications require less time for drying between coats so the average time is 1 – 3 days.

Please keep in mind that these are averages and there are a lot of things that determine the length of time needed for Hardwood Flooring Repair.  Weather, temperatures, Humidity, the darkness of the stain, the type of hardwood flooring being worked on, the need for a conditioner, the number of coats you would like, the size of the area being done.

Be sure you set aside enough time before starting a hardwood flooring project to ensure the best possible outcome of your investment.
